Siglos Karaoke - Advanced karaoke player
You can encounter many problems while running a karaoke show. Organizing a playlist may not be as easy as you thought and you may have surprises when switching to the next song. Siglos Karaoke offers a good alternative to traditional karaoke players. It gives you full control over your playlist. You can organize your songs in a database and locate specific items instantly, queue songs for individual singers and much more.
The software can be used on Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 and it takes less than a minute to install it. With a 1.5 GHz processor and 1GB of RAM, you can run the program without any problems. It is not free, but you can use a trial version, with a few restrictions.
Siglos Karaoke may intimidate you when you launch it for the first time. It displays several windows, with various options, but with a little patience, you can figure out the program's controls in no time. Besides the main interface, which looks like a traditional media player, the most important components are a video playback window and a singer rotation manager.
The rotation manager is where you can import songs, add them to a playlist or categorize them by performing singers. You should not confuse singers with artists. Singers are the actual people who sing while looking at your screen or projection.
After creating a music database, with karaoke files, you can add singers to the rotation manager, along with a songs queue. You just need to type the person's name and select one or more karaoke files, on a separate window. You can also type personal notes, specify a key and tempo, filter your files to find them easier, specify artists, titles or disc IDs and more.
When you are done organizing your singers and their queues, you have to click a Start button, on the rotation manager's window and the application will start playing the queued songs, for each singer. Siglos Karaoke will generate animations and highlight lyrics automatically, on the video playback window. Besides that, while playing a song, the application will announce the next singer and song.
Pros:
The software allows you to organize songs according to the performing singers. It displays neat animations and it highlights lyrics. Additionally, it announces the next singer and what song he or she will be singing.
Cons:
The trial version will play only the first two minutes of each song and it will occasionally display a nag screen.
With its flexible functionality, Siglos Karaoke makes it much easier to run a karaoke show on your computer.
